How did you start on your path of yoga?
I started taking yoga as an elective in college a LONG time ago before yoga became more “mainstream”. I remember that my family thought I was so weird when I started practicing what I was learning in class while on a family vacation! Since then I have practiced yoga either in a studio or in private.
What is one of the biggest benefits you’ve noticed from practicing yoga?
I love how yoga taught me to tune into my breath and especially breath with movement. I think it is a huge benefit in todays world to be conscious of what your breath is doing throughout the day and during times of stress. Yoga has taught me to relax my breath and body even in those times of stress.
What can people expect from your classes?
Right now I am teaching a restore class. I am really good at helping people relax and tap into their “rest and digest” system. Expect to feel relaxed and balanced after my restore classes. In Hatha and Vinyasa classes I am big on alignment and not pushing bodies beyond their capabilities into injury or over stretching the ligaments, that is the occupational therapist in me! But I do like to cultivate strength and muscles.
How can people find out more about you?
I have a Facebook??page: Lesha Nelson, an instagram page: @lesha5, as well as a website that shows my weekly schedule and talks about my craniosacral therapy business: synergycraniosacral.com If people are interested I send out a quarterly news letter that talks about my blogs post, upcoming events, and seasonal health and wellness tips. To sign up go to my webpage under contacts or let me know when I see you around the studio!
